Aby Lanner was built on one principle: anyone should be able to speak freely, without fear that their words will find their way back to them. This Privacy Policy is the legal architecture of that principle.

When we use the word “we” in this document, we mean the platform operating under the name Aby Lanner at abylanner.com. When we use “you”, we mean every person who visits, reads, submits, or participates.

Aby Lanner is an independent, privately operated literary and community platform. The platform is run under the persona of Aby Lanner — a deliberate identity.

03What information we collect

Anonymous submissions — The Confessional & The Circle

When you submit a story, feeling, or confession, we collect only the text content you provide. We do not collect, store, or log:

• Your IP address
• Your email address
• Your name or any identifying information
• Your device type, browser, or operating system
• The time or date of submission beyond what is needed for moderation

The Wardrobe submissions

Fashion stories submitted to The Wardrobe are held to the same anonymity standard as confessions. No identifying metadata is collected or retained.

Private conversations — Write to Aby

If you request a private one-on-one conversation with Aby, a minimal, secure contact method is required solely so that Aby can respond to you. This contact information is used for no other purpose whatsoever.

Newsletter subscriptions

If you subscribe to Letters from Aby, we collect your email address. This is the only personally identifying information collected voluntarily. We do not sell, share, or rent it to any third party.

Analytics & Cookies

We use privacy-preserving analytics in anonymised, aggregate form only. We do not use advertising trackers, third-party profiling, or behavioural targeting tools. Only essential cookies are used.

04How we use information

Information collected is used solely for:

• Publishing anonymous submissions after editorial review
• Facilitating private conversations with Aby
• Sending newsletter content to subscribers
• Understanding platform usage in aggregate
• Maintaining platform security and preventing abuse

05The Anonymity Promise

Submissions cannot be traced back to their author by any technical means available to us. This is enforced at the infrastructure level, not merely at the policy level.

06Private conversations

No conversation with Aby is shared, published, or retained beyond the exchange itself. What is said to Aby in private stays private — more private even than a confession submitted to the archive.

07Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share personal information with any third party. We do not use advertising networks. We do not participate in data broker ecosystems. Your data stays within this platform.

08Data retention

Published anonymous submissions are retained indefinitely as part of the living archive. Newsletter email addresses are retained until unsubscription. Private conversation data is purged after the exchange is complete.

09Your rights

You have the right to:

• Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time
• Request deletion of any private conversation data
• Request information about what data we hold (noting that anonymous submissions cannot be linked to you)
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

10Children & minors

This platform is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has submitted content, it will be removed.

11Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the platform and its data. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS. The platform infrastructure is regularly reviewed for vulnerabilities.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated on the platform. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
